Training Programme
Training
on the squadron takes many forms:
Classification
Training, which
shows your improvement and level of understanding within the corps and can
lead to a BTEC qualification in Aviation Studies, worth 2GCSE's A-C grade.
Adventure Training,
which covers a number of topics including initiative and leadership
exercises, camouflage and concealment, outdoors cooking and survival,
expedition training, practical map reading etc.
Drill (marching) is
a vital part of encouraging teamwork.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
training for Service, Skill and Expeditions.
Sport, to encourage
fitness and participation, working as a member of a team.
Shooting, to teach
above all safety and then marksmanship leading to various awards and a sense
of improvement.
Other activities are placed into the training programme,
such as visits by external vistors. e.g. RAF
Recruitment Team, Royal Engineers Recruitment Team, Police, and the RAF Drugs
Team amongst others. External visits and recreation nights such as ten pin
bowling also feature.
The training comes to practical use in various ways but particulalry
when attending camps and organised activities.
